Hoth SB and our new Commander!

Well it looks like we were once again unable to defeat the Empire on Hoth!

We ended up in 112 place with Minor Influence once again.  Nice Job to all who lent their support

But the real hero of this Sector Battle was Nia Othan! She finished 18th overall with a brand new rank as Commander.  Nia earned nearly 50% of our Cartel VP all on her own during this epic run. Make sure to congratulate her and admire her snazzy new gear!

Let's see if we can pick up where Nia left off and earn Major Influence in the upcoming retaliation on Hoth!

Episode 2 - The Early Days

I was able to pick up a few players in the early days of 2016. And the cartel started to grow. Folks spent time on the chat and shared ideas back and forth.

One of the things I am most proud of is that we were always a "Learning" Cartel. We helped everyone. Whether it was in the Cartel Chat or Global Chat, Alien Legion members would answer questions. No judgement, just help.

I started to pay a bit more attention to the Cartel in mid-January. By then we had 25 Members and I wanted some help. So I created the first set of Officers.

The first two were KAS SOMBER and JEN STORM. I spoke to them both in Private Chats and asked if they wanted to be officers. They both accepted. Kas, for those of us who remember, was online all the time. A constant steady presence. He had the all the answers and shared them with the group. Jen was steady but a bit more quiet.

In the end, Kas just couldn't take grind and lottery required to collect 3 special Droid Crew.

If he had gotten lucky enough to collect these droids, I am sure the Disruption Grenade lottery would have put him over the edge. One day in April, he just announced he was done, we haven't seen him since.

Jen true to form, went out more quietly. Some time in May, she just stopped playing the game.

Most of the people from the early days are gone. But we still have 3 (4 including myself) members from the early days in January. Can you guess who?

Episode 1 - The Begining

So back in December of 2015, I had reached the level cap and was struggling for something to do to keep my interest in the game.  There were fewer Sector Battles and no lightsabers to be found.  I was a level 65 smuggler looking for something to do.

Now cartels had been around for a long time in the game.  But with little Sector Battle experience under my belt, no one came recruiting.  I considered joining (or at least asking to join) other cartels.  Many of them seemed hyper-dedicated to those Sector Battle things.  Others seemed too desperate for players.

So I did the only thing  that made me feel safe, I created my own cartel.  This way I could recruit like minded players who would respect one another and help each other out.  If people didn't like that, they were (and are) welcome to look elsewhere, no hard feelings.

I wanted a casual cartel, helpful, friendly.

And so the Alien Legion was founded...

My first two recruits, Zabrek Mep and Saviag Lobo are no longer with us.   Zabrek last known login was around February 9th.  He only reached level 14.  Saving, well he never earned a single CXP for our cartel and never made it past level 2...that I know of.  I trust that they are doing well, and if they ever return to Uprising they are welcome back.

Shout out to shifty for screen shots on the bounty hunter blueprint.

Gear.  It's our driving force to the grind.  It's fun and addicting.  In alien legion we are always look for the next big upgrade, that fun t1 look or blue print collecting.  The idea from spoils sunday I grafted together with Nia and Ryer.

Nia impresses us all with his massive ever changing blueprints.  He is a hunter.  Truly fun to see his gear on a weekly basis.  This is sweet print has been the latest.

Raids, sandwiched player perspective.

Gaming, role playing, magic the gathering and of course ,superhero storytelling has been a passion.  It started with saturday morning cartoons with x-men.  I just never saw females that I wanted to be or that I could relate to within that context.

I guess star wars was only a matter of time.

It's been messy... I couldn't get passed the first nodes for two weeks.  I caved on my hard earned chrome and some planning.I got the last offer.  After saving chrome for a long long time.  So save your chrome.

I did the free currency nodes everyday.  The currency will roll over from raid to raid until you hit 100.  Do that and as of right now 8/24/16 hit captain every Sb.  And make some alts for farming event crystals.  Event crystals are need for everything.  And for u to progress into the higher raids you need to upgrade gear.  Never stop.

Bonus Node

This was the biggest help for my pr.  I got the best rewards and it's pretty consistent.    This Raid can trigger even after the free currency.  And it's repeatable.  Currently ten minutes.  I can get three in.  I am close to four.  Now I play the raid with abilities that increase damage and speed.  I have tried switching abilities in-between but I crash a lot. And you don't want to crash during this time sensitive raid.  Both bonus nodes were ruined so far this week due to crashing and I was switching screens/messing with abilities or gear.

Locked out?

The PR requirement can vary in the normal more.  Last week I got locked out of my end reward at about 19500.  This week for Omen Dread the final reward is around 2000.

It's pretty much across the board.  It's never enough pr.  

To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade your Materials

So maybe I am the last one to figure this out...but here goes:

To upgrade or not to upgrade Desh (& Phrik & Cortosis & Durasteel & Mephitine) that is the question.

Well I took some time and did the math to share it with the Cartel.

I took 4 - 3*Star Desh and upgraded them to a 1 - 4*Desh, this cost me 6,000 credits. I then used the 1 - 4* Desh to level up a piece of equipment.  This cost me 10,800 credits but I earned 689,200 xp for the equipment.  Using this process I spent 6,000 + 10,800 credit = 16,8000.  This works out to be 41.02 xp per credit spent.

I then took the same 4 - 3*Desh and used them to upgrade the equipment directly.  This cost me 14,400 credits and I only gained 672,400 xp.  So with this method I gained less xp, but I also spent less credit.  In this method, you get 46.69 xp per credit spent.

So overall, I believe it makes more sense to NOT upgrade your materials, just use them as is.  With the new inventory system space is no longer at a premium.

(FYI - I did the same calculation for the Elemental Bonus Material and it still work out the same way.)

Based on recent posts from Kabam we have learned that they will not longer be running a Cartel Competition.  (At least for now.)

Because of that I do not recommend any cartel member use the Cartel Savvy Ability for the time being:

I personally will be running In Demand to collect some much needed credits.

Recent SBs...

Congrats on our recents Sector Battles.  We did well winning Minor Influence during the full Sector Battle this past weekend on Hoth.  And then we followed it up with Major Influence from the Imperial Retaliation on Monday.  Keep up the good work.  Our next 1 hr SB will be Burnin Konn in roughly 6 hours.

Sector Battle (7/31-8/1) Mataou

Well, we lost the battle on Mataou.  Seems like there are just fewer players.  The top player's scores have come down a bit but it would still require a full day of play for Commander or higher.

In the end we ended up 147th with Minor Influence, so good job overall.

Next up should be a 1 hr retaliation SB on Mataou in about 18 hours from now.  Let's see if we can get our Major Influence back.

New Rules for Time Away from the Cartel

After our poll, I've decided to make the following changes to the Cartel Rules.
Starting Monday August 1st, anyone away from the cartel for 14 days will be subject to demotion.  Seven days later (21 days) I will kick the person from the Cartel to make room for more active players.  

As always if someone wishes to return to the Cartel, they can PM me in the game for reinstatement, assuming we have room.

Please help spread the word.

Material Upgrades during Sector Battles

Pro Tip from Mia - Sector Battles are a great time to buy material. Go to the spaceport and spend 20,000-30,000 credits purchasing materials. Then upgrade the material with the additional materials earned in the Sector Battle.  This way you can quickly get to 6* or 7* material in a hurry.

Ok so the month just ended and Faction Rewards were paid out to the top 5000 players in each faction.  You earned faction reputation through Crew Runs and by running missions for your Faction Rep.  The list below shows the rewards at each level.  This is the best way to get Silver Faction tokens.  (You can also get Silver tokens from the Holodisc Vendor but that is more hit and miss.)  Go through the abilities and decide which ability you want to purchase.  Then go tothe Faction screen and set your Primary Faction.  Then for every SB you get a small amout of Faction Rep for your primary Faction.

Finally here are last month's  scores for each faction.  the score listed is for the lowest level in each rank.  So last month the rank of Warrior for the Rebel Alliance required at least 300,000 Faction Reputations.  So for the last couple of months the Noble Court has been the easiest faction to rank in, but the abilities are the least desirable.
